SAN LUIS REY WATERSHED: EXOTIC PLANT DISTRIBUTION MAPS

Mapping was carried out by the WMA. Funding provided by the San Luis Rey Watershed Council.

Surveying was completed between February and June 2000. Future updates will be carried out and noted when they occur. Exotic plant mapping was carried out in the field by delineating areas with target exotic plants on orthocorrected aerial photographs (3 foot resolution 1998 infra-red images, SANDAG). Acreages should be viewed as representative of the level of infestation, but should not be used as a definitive acreage, e.g. for mitigation purposes. More accurate mapping using a ground-based GPS unit would be suggested. The field survey is probably within 20% to 30% of the true acreage and is therefore useful in planning eradication efforts. The entire watershed has been surveyed, but some small infestations may have been missed.
