Santa Margarita and San Luis Rey Watersheds Weed Management Area

1:00   Introduction: Welcome, purpose of WMAs, goals of the Santa Margarita and San Luis Rey Watersheds WMA.

1:10   Overview of main non-native plants of concern within the watersheds: Arundo donax, tamarisk, German ivy, Lepidium latifolium, Artichoke thistle, bridal broom.

1:20   Webpage Resource Center: Introduction of web-site, what information is currently available, what information we plan to have online in the future.

1:30   Non-native plant distributions in the watersheds: Current status of non-native plant mapping within the two watersheds and availability of this information.

1:40   Plant Control Projects: Initial projects to be completed by the WMA in 2000 funded by NFWF grant, proposed future projects.

1:50   Discussion on the structure of the WMA:

  • Current and future role of the WMA, role of all participants
  • Input session from all attendants: perceived role of WMA, priority issues
  • Committees/focus groups to address specific issues, such as:
    • Political outreach and funding
    • Restoration: planting/nursery
    • Volunteer labor
